LSU just came off one of the most astonishing college football teams in recent memory. The Tigers finished the season 15-0 with victories over nearly every team in the sports Top Ten.
Unlike many recent championship teams in both college and professional sports, they also chose to make a visit to the White House. During the appearance, though, Donald Trump talked more about his upcoming impeachment trial than the football team’s success.
The President made sure to regularly incorporate Joe Burrow into his statements. Burrow, the Heisman Trophy winner, is expected to be the first selection overall in the upcoming NFL draft.
When closing the event, Trump said, “You got a good [POTUS] now – even though they’re trying to impeach the son of a bitch! Can you believe that?… we took out those terrorists like your football team would’ve taken out those terrorists!”
Trump ends LSU event by turning it into a rally: "You got a good [POTUS] now – even though they're trying to impeach the son of a bitch! Can you believe that?… we took out those terrorists like your football team would've taken out those terrorists!"

After these comments, the players mostly looked down at their shoes.
Trump spent a good part of November in Louisiana. The President held 4 separate rallies to support Republican gubernatorial candidate Eddie Rispone.
LSU was on the other side of the President as he is close with Democratic candidate and eventual winner Jon Bel Edwards.
After Orgeron endorsed Edwards in April, Republican Senator John Kennedy hit the roof. Kennedy told reporters, “Something happened this week in Louisiana politics that really disturbed me. One of the coaches of our LSU Fighting Tigers football team endorsed a candidate for governor and I was appalled.”
Some pundits credited the LSU Tigers success with Edwards winning the close November election.
