President Trump’s speech on Monday alarmed many Americans as protests have reached the White House. Trump has complained that state governors have not done enough to “dominate” protestors. The protests began after a black man named George Floyd was killed by a white police officer in Minneapolis. Some protestors have turned to riot and police forces have escalated their use of force.
Outside agitators are also believed to be causing a large portion of the violence, including, white supremacist groups and drug cartels. Despite this, Trump has accused ANTIFA of being behind the destruction and has designated them a terrorist organization. Many Americans see Trump’s wanting threat to use the military as the President declaring war on his own citizens. Many have accused Trump of being a fascist and a dictator.
Despite Trump’s threat protests continue across the country as the world watches. In the eyes of many Americans, Trump’s threat only emboldens the protestors as many are still gathering at the White House as of Tuesday. It seems that no matter what Trump says, angry protestors do not plan to back down.
