Donald Trump's cognitive issues have been apparent to the public for a while now, but there's been an even more noticeable decline in his behavior ever since Vice President Kamala Harris became his opponent in the presidential race.
At the same time, the same corporate media (meaning: outlets run by Trump supporters) who bullied President Joe Biden over a sore throat at a debate has continued to sanewash Trump's increasingly unhinged rally speeches, "town hall" appearances, and press conferences, with few exceptions.
One glaring example of a former journalistic powerhouse that has fallen prey to Trumpism is The New York Times, which has of late run op-eds by MAGA sympathizers, invoking the wrath of liberals and resulting in a serious drop in subscriptions. But on Sunday, the Times seemed to wake from its Trump-induced hypnotic state to tell the truth about his mental impairment.
The article keeps to the mental decline and avoids "cult of personality" language. It's not an attack on his character, but an honest look at Donald's deterioration.
"He rambles, he repeats himself, he roams from thought to thought — some of them hard to understand, some of them unfinished, some of them factually fantastical," the article states. "He digresses into bizarre tangents about golf, about sharks, about his own 'beautiful' body. As late as last month, Trump was still speaking as if he were running against President Biden, five weeks after his withdrawal from the race."
Trump is acutely aware of his slide, and he incorporates obvious projection language to try to cover it.
