[WATCH] The Daily Show’s Jordan Klepper Confronts Matt Gaetz On Jan 6th Anniversary

Jordan Klepper of The Daily Show confronted Rep. Matt “Captain Venmo” Gaetz (R-FL) on the anniversary of the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol, while he was commemorating the event. Which is to say, Gaetz wasn’t treating the day with the respect and gravitas it merited, because he’s Matt Gaetz.

Klepper has no fear of the TrumpWorld supporting cast of characters, evidenced by how he owned the easily triggered Mike Lindell at one of his events, or the time he managed to keep a somewhat straight face while talking to Trump supporters. So of course, Klepper didn’t tread even close to lightly when it came to confronting the Florida Man currently under investigation for sex trafficking teenage girls.

WASHINGTON, DC – JULY 27: (L-R) Rep. Bob Good (R-VA), Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) hold a news conference outside the U.S. Department of Justice on July 27, 2021 in Washington, DC. The glory occurred before Matty Fivehead’s ex-girlfriend testified against him, but he had to know it was coming, so maybe that’s why he wasn’t in the mood to chat with Jordan. “Hey Matt Gaetz, if you’re going to reenact the events of January 6th, who’s going to take a sh*t in the rotunda and also, who’s going to make the gallows?” asked Klepper. “Isn’t this a little bit childish, Matt? Or is that what attracts you to this?” The Daily Show tweeted the exchange, and it’s really something that should be preserved by both the Smithsonian and the Paley Center for all of eternity.

I mean, all of the chef’s kisses, Jordan. I really wish I had thought of this when I was in proximity to Gaetz back on Labor Day, but I was being a professional good girl. Plus, I’m pretty sure the crowd would’ve gone after me, J6-style, should anyone sound the dogwhistle.

Klepper picked up other kudos for doing the Lord’s work bringing us footage of the worst people.
