A handful of skilled satirists have made a practice of showing up at rallies and events supporting Donald Trump, where they ask careful questions that lead participants into conundrums and confessions. The Daily Show has been the host of such political commentary more than once, and now they’ve done it again, shining a spotlight on hypocrisy and conspiracy in the Trump camp.
In the clip below, the Daily Show‘s Jordan Klepper travels to a Trump rally in Iowa, and talks to supporters, highlighting the disinformation of QAnon, the failed logic of conspiracy theories, and the blatant misdirection behind calls for ‘civil discourse’ from people who support the former president.

Revelations from the 6-minute clip include that QAnon genuinely has some believers convinced that Donald Trump is still the President of the United States, and is secretly running the military and other operations (except when there’s something to blame the Biden Administration for), that people can walk around in shirts depicting Trump showing a double middle-finger gesture addressed to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris and still criticize Democrats for not being ‘civil’ enough, and that there’s really no limit on the extreme of conspiracies that can be produced just by employing the concept of a ‘crisis actor.’ Also, they’re still really upset at Mike Pence, who is currently working to soothe right-wing anger at him, after Trump supporters on January 6th chanted about wanting to kill him as a traitor for failing to exert authority he didn’t actually have in order to keep Trump in office.
