WATCH: Ted Cruz Tells Voters To Defy Trump Endorsement; Stop Caring How Much Candidates Love Former President

Ted Cruz is often criticized for being too spineless to oppose Donald Trump. In fact, he continued to support and praise Trump after Trump leveled insults at Cruz’s wife. Now, he’s mocking candidates who use their Trump-worship to try to sway voters.

Donald Trump has endorsed a candidate, J.D. Vance, in Ohio’s Senate race. Ted Cruz, however, is campaigning for Vance’s opponent, Josh Mandel. It’s not usual for the Texas Republican to openly oppose Trump, but then, he isn’t up for re-election this year.
Watch below as he lashed out at his own party’s Trump obsession, telling voters to stop listening to how much candidates say they support Trump or are aligned with the former President, because it’s not a good measure of their actual policies.

The Republican primary between Mandell, Vance, and several other candidates is on Tuesday, and it’s already being described as a test of how much influence Trump still holds over voters, although his candidate is leading in polls. RealClearPolitics currently shows Vance with the support of about 26% of GOP voters in Ohio, compared to Mandel with 22.5%.
Still Vance may be alienating himself with some Trump voters, as he continues to say that a portion of Trump’s support is “for racist reasons,” and Trump’s mixup when he tried to remind the crowd at his weekend rally which candidate he’d endorsed might not exactly help either.
