[WATCH] Targeted For Voting For Trump’s 2nd Impeachment, Jaime Herrera Beutler Faces A MAGA-Heavy Primary Challenge

Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA) was there on January 6th when Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) called Donald Trump to beg him to call off the violent crowd attempting to break into the windows of his office. Herrera Beutler would later speak on the House floor about Trump first blaming it on “Antifa” but then showing his hand when McCarthy again asked for Trump to make a statement: “Well, Kevin, I guess these people are more upset about the election than you are.” She would also vote for Trump’s impeachment during his second trial, where she again testified to what happened in McCarthy’s office that day.

Because she kept to her oath of office by putting her country ahead of her party, Herrera Beutler is now paying the price for her perceived “disloyalty” to Trump, with his supporters labeling her a “RINO” and “not an ‘America First’ Republican.” Despite being re-elected in Washington’s 3rd district five times, she’s now facing her first real serious challengers since she was first elected to represent the southwest region of the state in 2010. Under Washington’s primary system, the top two vote-getters in each race on August 2nd advance to the November election, regardless of party. Washington is a vote-by-mail state, and voters don’t have to declare a party affiliation. Rep. Dan Newhouse, a four-term congressman in the 4th Congressional District, is the other Washington state member of Congress who has drawn Republican challengers, including one endorsed by Trump, due to his vote.

As a former resident of Washington’s Third, I didn’t always love what Herrera Beutler did in Washington, DC to represent Washington State. But I watched her do the right thing regarding January 6th and again during Trump’s second impeachment, which gained her my respect. I also found out the hard way about her biggest challenger, Joe Kent (aka “Rand Paul Lite”) who is so Ultra MAGA, it’s almost like he was hired by someone to recite a specific script (political insiders say that’s because he’s a CIA operative, but I can’t prove that). What I do know is that Joe Kent is super Trumpy and dangerous because he’s been hand-picked by Trump, hangs out with the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, and was at that dumb “J6 Heroes” rally that failed. Not the guy anyone needs anywhere near Congress.

Then there’s Heidi St. John, who makes Lauren Boebert look smart. Heidi rolls extra super Qrazy Christian and thinks Donald Trump is still President. She’s not as serious a challenger as Kent, and in the best of all scenarios, she acts as a vote-divider so that she takes just enough away from Joe Kent so Jaime stays in her seat. The Democratic challenger, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, entered the race with only 6 months to go, but her presence caused the current Democratic candidate, Brent Hennrich, to drop out. Perez most likely won’t do any damage to Herrera Beutler in a district that’s grown increasingly Red over the last twelve years.
