When Donald Trump won the Republican nomination in 2016, GOP leadership thought long and hard about who his running mate would be. The decision was made to put Mike Pence in the spot. They hoped Pence’s Evangelical beliefs would counteract Trump’s complete and utter absence of morals.

During a recent event at the University of Virginia, Pence was asked how he would react if his theoretical son came out as gay. The former Vice President responded, “I’d look him in the eye and tell him, I love you. I believe marriage was ordained by God and instituted in the law. After Alyssa Farah opined that Pence may be coming around on the issue, Sunny Hostin reacted:

Hostin wasn’t done, ” Let me continue. In 2004, Mike Pence co-sponsored a proposed amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would define marriage as solely between one man and one woman. In 2007, he voted against the Employment Nondiscrimination Act. In 2010, he voted against the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell repeal. In 2015, he signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act…”
