As a member of the United States senate for decades, Joe Biden developed deep relationships with many Republican lawmakers. Those relationships haven’t paid off, though, as GOP senators continue to vote against all of Biden’s initiatives.
The president says that some Republicans agree with his ideas. He said during a Wednesday press conference, “I’ve had five Republican senators talk to me, bump in to me … or sit with me. Who have told me that they agree with whatever I’m talking about for them to do. “But Joe, if I do it I’m getting defeated in a primary.”
Last night, Steve Bannon speculated that Lindsey Graham was one of those GOP lawmakers. The former Trump adviser ranted:
“The five traitors — and this is the scumbags and slimeballs you have here in the nation’s capital — he got five Republican senators have told him they agree with what he’s doing. They agree with what he’s doing and they would vote and support him, but they’re afraid of, wait for it, the War Room Posse.”
Bannon continued, “Have enough guts to step up and tell us, Lindsey Graham, who you are. We need you guys to step up to the plate, Lindsey Graham!”
Graham and Biden were long-time friends. That relationship, however, changed dramatically in the age of Trump. The South Carolina senator, at least in public, has been one of Trump’s most ardent sycophants.
