Trump advisers and Conservative media have really done a strange dance when it comes to vaccines. They, of course, want the former president to get credit for the inoculation. But they are also heavily invested on creating hesitancy about the shot.
It was revealed this week that a new variant, called Omicron, is spreading in Africa and South Africa. And during a Friday TV spot, Stephen Miller said that Trump would have already had a vaccine for the brand new strain.
Miller told Fox News, “If president Trump was still in office, by the way, we’d already have modified vaccines that deal with the new variants. Which is a great point. President Trump brought us vaccines in record times. Which he made voluntary, not mandatory.”
Of course, people who have been vaccinated have largely been able to avoid severe reactions to the Delta variant. And while it is yet to be seen how the vaccines will react to Omicron, vaccinated people are near certain to be better off while contracting the disease than people who haven’t gotten their shot.
