On the day of the insurrection, there were plenty of people reaching out to Mark Meadows. They wanted Donald Trump’s Chief of Staff to do something to stop his supporters from ransacking the Capitol.
It wasn’t surprising to see that the messages came from people like Sean Hannity, Brian Kilmeade and Laura Ingraham. It was a bit of a surprise, though, to see that some of those messages came from Trump’s own son, Don Jr.
During his Wednesday night show, Seth Meyers savagely mocked Don Jr. for having to go through Meadows to get to his dad.
The host told his audience, “The investigation into former president Trump’s attempted coup took a truly stunning turn this week when it was revealed that his own son, Don Trump Jr , as well as several Fox News hosts, privately begged Trump’s chief of staff to get Trump to stop the attack on the Capitol — and yet in public those same people defended Trump and lied about the insurrection.” He then suggested Don Jr., “doesn’t have his own father’s phone number.”
Meyers then quipped, “And if Don Jr. gets relegated to the chief of staff, who does Eric have to go through, Rudy?”
