WATCH: Serious Questions About How Close Clarence Thomas & Wife Ginni Were To Jan 6th Plot, Chuck Schumer Says

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer weighed in on the meaning of recently uncovered information regarding Ginni Thomas’ connections to the efforts on January 6th, 2021, to prevent Congress from carrying out its sworn duty to confirm the electoral vote. Thomas has said that she was present at the Capitol that day, but left before Trump’s speech. However, text messages tie her to the planning before that date.

Now, some members of Congress are pushing for Justice Clarence Thomas, Ginni’s husband, to step down, saying that he should have recused himself from SCOTUS cases that relate to the attack on the Capitol, and to the efforts that Donald Trump and those around him made to overturn the election.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer isn’t going quite that far, but he does affirm that there should be a code of ethics implemented for the Supreme Court, and that Justice Thomas should be refusing himself from further cases — and in asserting this, Schumer also states that there are “serious questions” about how involved the Justice and his wife may have been to the planning of the events of January 6th.

CNN reports that the House Select Committee formed to investigate the January 6th has text messages that were exchanged between Mrs. Thomas and Mark Meadows, including on in which she expressed anger at then-Vice President Mike Pence for refusing to do Trump’s bidding in rejecting the electoral vote, and another in which she complained about being expect to “cave to people wanting Biden to be anointed.”
