WATCH: School Board Mashup Shows Some Of The Most Unhinged Reactions To Mask Rules

You aren’t obligated to agree with the rules that your child’s public school puts in place to protect students, and a board meeting is often the perfect forum to voice this input. However, if you show up explaining that you disagree with a new or proposed rule, and your reasoning invokes demons, calls health precautions demonic, or involves screaming and calling a public health official (who is not present) a Nazi, maybe you shouldn’t expect to be taken too seriously.

VIERA, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES – 2021/08/30: People demonstrate with placards at an emergency meeting of the Brevard County, Florida School Board in Viera to discuss whether face masks in local schools should be mandatory.

In recent weeks, attendees of these school board meetings across America have gone to extremes, threatening staff and health professionals who show up to share information.

In the mashup below, however, parents and activists — including Representative Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) — are caught in statements that fall short of actual threats, but don’t exactly paint their positions in the most reasonable light.

From the speaker who says that pro-mask advocates “want to wear snot on [their] face[s] all day” and that it’s “non-science satanic BS” to the one who insists that the school board members are all demonic entitities (you can watch a longer clip of her here — she says she’s a nurse) to the one who suggests that masks make kids easier to abduct and accuses the board of supporting sex trafficking, these are without a doubt some of the more outrageous takes we’ve seen in a battle that has become incredibly partisan over a minimal health measure.

School boards across the country have listened to these rants, then still made the decision to implement mask rules as the Delta variant has hit hard, shutting down numerous schools in the few short weeks since the academic year began.
