WATCH: Scaramucci Predicts GOP Senators Will Soon Turn on Trump
Anthony Scaramucci supported Donald Trump’s political career almost from its infancy. The former investment banker served on Trump’s finance and transition committees. He also had a very short stint as the President’s Director of Communications.
The two men had a messy divorce, though, and Scaramucci no longer supports the President. With a strong knowledge of the inner workings of Trump’s White House, his former adviser is a sought after cable news guest. On Don Lemon’s CNN show Wednesday night, Scaramucci predicted that 20 or more GOP senators will soon turn on Trump.
The host asked Scaramucci about a meeting Trump had with Democrats on Wednesday. According to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, “What we witnessed on the part of the President was a meltdown, sad to say.”
Scaramucci elaborated on Trump’s Syria problem. “As more facts unfold about Syria, as more facts unfold about the people that have been arrested recently, and the conjoinment of all those issues over there, it’s going to be devastating for the president,” he said.
The former Trump aide also felt that GOP lawmakers will soon be coming to a breaking point. He told Lemon, “The criminal activity will be so great that the GOP, and there will be 20-plus senators who’ll say, ‘OK, I can’t take this anymore.’ Trump will then face a moment like President Richard Nixon did in 1974: Republicans in the Senate will break the news to him that he’s got to go or else he’ll lose an impeachment trial. That will eventually happen. And that’s the reason why he’s pressurized.”
