WATCH: Sarah Sanders Says COVID Would be “Much Worse” If Trump Wasn’t President

The coronavirus pandemic was gripping much of the world in March and April. For most countries, that has changed. Even hard hit places like China and Italy have gotten back to business as usual.

The United States is in a much different place. While many of America’s blue states have gotten the virus somewhat under control, cases are surging in red states. The President of the United States is still refusing to even wear a face covering. His former Press Secretary, however, says that the pandemic would be “much worse” if Trump wasn’t the President.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders made the comments during an appearance on Tuesday’s Fox & Friends. She was asked about Democrats using Trump’s handling of the pandemic against him.

She responded, “I think if Donald Trump hadn’t been president, that number could’ve been much higher, and could’ve been much worse. Thankfully the president took some early steps, like stopping travel — which a lot of Democrats criticized him for.”

The former Press Secretary continued:

“One of the other things that Donald Trump did that I think was truly remarkable, that he gets no credit for, is that he got government out of the way. He allowed American companies to step up — American ingenuity to take over, when we needed supplies and resources. He cut the red tape, and let Americans do what they do best.”

On June 25th, the United States set a new COVID-19 record with 39,372 cases being reported.
