no rollback despite new cases

Ron DeSantis knows that if he wants to take over the Republican party, he will have to be even more extreme than Donald Trump. And the Florida Governor seemingly thinks that the best way to do that is to constantly bash COVID protocols.

ORLANDO, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES – 2021/08/16: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis holds a press conference to announce the opening of a monoclonal antibody treatment site to help COVID-19 patients recover at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. DeSantis stated that the site will offer the Regeneron treatment and will operate seven days a week, treating up to 320 patients a day. DeSantis’ anti-vax rhetoric has been so intense that even Trump took a shot at him. During a January interview with OAN, the former President remarked, “I watched a couple politicians be interviewed, and one of the questions was, ‘Did you get a booster?’ Because they had the vaccine and they’re answering like — in other words, the answer is ‘yes,’ but they don’t want to say it because they’re gutless.”

The Florida Governor again engaged in COVID outrage during an appearance at the University of South Florida. DeSantis said to a group of High School students, “You do not have to wear those masks. Please take them off. Honestly, it’s not doing anything. We’ve gotta stop with this Covid theater. So if you wanna wear it, fine, but this is ridiculous.”
