[WATCH ] Resignation Of Head Tucker Carlson Writer Over Racist Views Causes Sadness Among the Right
Many of the far-right’s prominent figures are feeling upset about the ouster of Blake Neff who was the head writer for Tucker Carlson Tonight. Neff was discovered to have made very racist remarks on a far-right forum and was found out which resulted in him losing his job at Fox News. Mainstream conservatives have been content to let Neff disappear but the far-right have decided not to be silent on the matter.
Many on the far-right saw Neff as a fighter in a great war for their cause and his firing is seen as a great blow to that effort. Many seemed to think that Neff was having a great influence on Tucker Carlson and steering him in the direction of white nationalism.
Oliver Darcy of CNN reported on the matter on Friday in which he discussed Neff’s time on the message forum and his use of the n-word on a frequent basis and as recently as a week ago. Darcy’s report reads, “Neff worked at Fox News for nearly four years and was Carlson’s top writer,” it began. “Previously, he was a reporter at The Daily Caller, a conservative news outlet that Carlson co-founded. In a recent article in the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine, Neff said, “Anything [Carlson is] reading off the teleprompter, the first draft was written by me.” He also acknowledged the show’s influence, telling the magazine, “We’re very aware that we do have that power to sway the conversation, so we try to use it responsibly.”
Darcy continued, “When asked in a 2018 appearance on Fox’s “The Five” about the writing process for his show, Carlson said he spends hours working on scripts, but referred to Neff by name, saying he was a “wonderful writer” and acknowledging his assistance. And Carlson credited Neff in the acknowledgments of his book, “Ship of Fools,” for providing research. In the acknowledgments, Carlson said that Neff and two others who helped with the book “work on and greatly improve our nightly show on Fox.”
Neff resigned once he became aware of the CNN report. Although the far-right are mourning the loss of someone they held dear, Fox News was not so kind to Neff. The cable news giant released a statement blasting Neff and his racism.
