Donald Trump is being sued by several people who were roughed up by his security staff. During a recent deposition in the case, the former President was asked about the possibility of protestors throwing fruit at him. Trump claimed that people could be killed by an errant tomato or pineapple.
The comments were too much for Rachel Maddow. During a Wednesday night segment, the MSNBC host mocked Trump for his fruit phobia.
Maddow began, “I’m going to jump right in here tonight. I do not think there is any way to ease into this. I don’t think there is any setup I can give you that would make this any more normal. No context I can provide you that would make this less weird. It is what it is, and it stands on its own terms.”
After reading the comments from Trump, she continued, “With the release of this deposition in this past day, we now know a whole new thing we didn’t know before about former President Trump, which is that he is apparently desperately afraid of a flying tomato.”
Maddow concluded, “Ok, sir, and how about we give you the nuclear codes for the United States of America. I mean, we have to get real. If there is an incoming banana, somebody is going to have to make the hard call, because we might all die. Did somebody throw a pineapple at this man as a baby.”
