[WATCH] Psaki Drops Another Doocy During Press Briefing

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki might be leaving her position soon, but she’ll be remembered as one of the most effective people in the role in modern history. What began with her assuring the tentative press (so used to the unstable former guy, the “PT” in “PTSD” now means “Post-Trump”) will most likely end with a deft pass to her successor as she walks away and never looks back.

But until then, the always unflappable Psaki still comes prepared and kindly handles even the most obtuse questions from the members of the press. Even when that member is Peter Doocy, heir apparent to the mantle of Least Qualified Fox TV News Interviewer.

Doocy didn’t get very far with his latest gotcha question at Monday’s press briefing. Trying to assign blame to a lab in Wuhan for the origins of the coronavirus, Doocy asked Psaki why President Biden doesn’t “just pick up the phone and ask President Xi to find out what happened”. Because that’s what the former guy would’ve done, is the subtext of that question.

“On the origins of COVID,” Doocy began, “there is a new Wall Street Journal story that three researchers at the Wuhan Institute of urology were hospitalized with symptoms consistent with covid-19 and common seasonal illness of November 2019. That is something known to U.S. Intel officials. Why isn’t President Joe Biden pushing for more access and information to get to the bottom of exactly what happened?”

“I think you’re misunderstanding how the process works,” Psaki responded as Doocy kept pushing the narrative that President Biden is somehow responsible for not punishing the Chinese for American deaths.
