Matthew McConaughey has always smartly straddled the political line. The affable actor has a strong fan base on both sides of the aisle. That could change, though, if the native Texan chooses to enter the political game.

McConaughey has hinted that he might run for a major office in his home state. He recently talked to Carlos Watson about the current political climate. And the actor had harsh words for those people who are unwilling to protect others by wearing face masks.
The Hollywood star called mask wearing a, “short-term inconvenience for long-term freedom.” He continued:
“I’m not believing you’re really scared of this little cotton thing. I don’t really feel that takes away your identity and your freedom. There’s no data that says it’s not a good thing. No data that says it’s harmful.”
When asked about a potential run for governor in his home state, the actor said, “[I’m not] interested in going and putting a bunch of Band-Aids on that are gonna be ripped off. I’m interested in building something that can last, and I’m measuring what category that is. I don’t know if that’s politics. I trust my core beliefs enough and my values enough to feel comfortable listening to and opposing.”
