WATCH: Piers Morgan Blasts Sarah Palin For Her Lies About 2020 Election

In 2016, the Republican party made the unqualified and incompetent Donald Trump their presidential nominee. That wouldn’t have been possible without Sarah Palin. Palin was John McCain’s running mate in 2008 as the GOP picked a candidate with a big personality rather than one with political acumen.

Not surprisingly, Palin became a surrogate to Trump, sometimes joining his on the campaign trail. And the former Alaska governor was all in on the 45th president’s claims that the election was “stolen.” During an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, Piers Morgan took Palin to task for these lies.

Morgan asked, “There is no question they were whipped up to [storm the Capitol] because they believed their president, who told them the election had been stolen, fraudulently stolen. That was a lie, wasn’t it?”

Palin responded, “The president has been insisting, so many Americans have been insisting, that our elections are run legally, and transparently — and when there were shenanigans, obviously, in so many of the polling areas, the president has insisted that we look into where all these votes had come from.”

The host pressed, “But the wasn’t stolen, was it Sarah Palin?! Let’s be honest. Let’s be clear … The election was won fair and square by a thumping win by Joe Biden. Do you accept that?”

A flustered Palin answered, “I want to see that our elections, and every polling place, is run cleanly.”
