Now that the world has witnessed what was most likely the only debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, their running mates are gearing up for their only face-to-face meeting before Election Day.
Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) has enlisted a debate prep veteran to play his opponent, Ohio Senator JD Vance: Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who also helped VP Harris prepare for her debate with Trump.
Buttigieg had played a similar and very key role in the Biden-Harris campaign in 2020 by standing in for then-Vice President Mike Pence when then-Sen. Harris was preparing for her now-legendary debate with him.
Gov. Walz has been practicing with Buttigieg and taking notes on a yellow legal pad in a Minneapolis hotel, The Washington Post first reported Wednesday.
Secretary Pete has already been hammering Vance in the media, appearing on "Meet the Press" to denounce the dangerous and repeatedly debunked rumors Vance has been spreading about Haitian immigrants.
Buttigieg was previously asked on MSNBC in August whether he'd be willing to play Vance in a debate.
"Obviously, I'll make myself however I can, although I'm still recovering a little bit from the experience of trying to inhabit the mind of Mike Pence," Buttigieg told host Jen Psaki at the time. "I'll do anything to help this ticket win, but I don't know if it will come to that."
Perhaps a well-placed couch joke?
The Vice Presidential debate will be hosted by CBS News live from New York City on Tuesday, October 1st.
