[WATCH] Olivia Troye and Miles Taylor Confirm ‘The Fear Was Real’ in Trump White House

The House Select Committee investigating the January 6th attack on the Capitol has been busy this week, issuing new subpoenas to more of Donald Trump’s inner circle, with even more expected soon. Including in those subpoenas was one for John McEntee, whom fellow staffers called “Johnny.” McEntee may have kept a lower public profile, but Trump was allegedly so dependent on his “body man” that he referred to McEntee as the “deputy President” in the waning days of his administration as he essentially handed over the daily machinations of the White House.

A new book from journalist Jonathan Karl has revealed an atmosphere where McEntee singled out Trump staffers who didn’t seem to have the kind of “loyalty” the boss demanded, weeding out any possible derailments for the Trump Train.

Two former Trump administration officials appeared on MSNBC Tuesday night to talk about what it was like working in the White House under Trump’s so-called “loyalty enforcer” and notorious hater of Taylor Swift, Johnny McEntee. Olivia Troye, a former aide to Vice President Mike Pence, and Miles Taylor, former chief of staff for the Department of Homeland Security, both agreed that the details in Karl’s book were accurate.

It actually gave me chills because it reminded me what it was like when Johnny was appointed,” Troye said of the book. “The fear was real, it was well-known that there were social media checks being conducted. I had a conversation with Gen. (Keith) Kellogg directly where he told me to watch my every move, to be careful.”

Watch Olivia Troye tell the Taylor Swift anecdote and more, below.
