[Watch] Notorious RBG’s Granddaughter Records Get Out the Vote Video

Even though she’s gone and had never really publicly discussed her political leanings, Ruth Bader Ginsburg is having an impact on the presidential election. Her granddaughter, Clara Spera, has recorded a 30-second video encouraging all to make a plan and vote.

Generally, high voter turnout favors Democrats. In the video, Spera notes that her “bubbie” told her that “her final wish was that her seat on the Supreme Court not be filled until after the election.” Just before she died Ginsburg, aware that her death in the middle of an election would create tempest, dictated this statement to granddaughter: “My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”

Ever-so-smug senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) trampled on that dying wish, rushing through the appointment of Amy Coney Barrett to replace Ginsburg.

But Spera says “it’s up to us to make her voice heard at the ballot box, to keep fighting the battle she waged for women’s equality and justice for all. My grandmother changed the course of history. Now, it’s our turn. Make a plan. Vote by Tuesday.”

The video was produced by MoveOn.org.

The timing of its release is perfect, given that Donald Trump spent much of his day at campaign rallies in Pennsylvania taking verbal shots at the Supreme Court for its rulings over the past few days that will allow for the counting of ballots after Nov. 3. At Saturday’s rally in Reading, Pa., Trump said, “This is a terrible thing that they’ve done to our country. And that’s the US Supreme Court that I’m talking about. That’s a terrible, political, horrible decision that they made … you’re gonna have bedlam.”
