Nike has always been very creative in their marketing endeavors, so when they announced that they would make Colin Kaepernick the face of their 30th Anniversary “Just Do It” campaign, it didn’t surprise anyone.
With that said, however, the decision did anger a large portion of Americans. There are plenty of people who believe that Kaepernick disrespected the American flag by kneeling to protest racial injustice during the National Anthem. They did not want to see him as the face of one of their favorite clothing brands.
Last night during the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Atlanta Falcons football game, which kicked off the start of the NFL season, Nike’s first ad, featuring Kaepernick aired. The ad, which can be seen in its entirety below, sent an incredibly inspirational message to viewers.
Whether you are a fan of Nike and Kaepernick or not, there is likely no arguing that there is anything wrong with the message that this commercial sends to its viewers.
