During a conversation on Megyn Kelly's show on Monday, Rich Lowry, the editor of the conservative National Review, used the n-word while discussing Haitian migrants in Springfield, Illinois.
Kelly, once one of most prominent news anchors on television, has had a Giuliani-like fall over the years. Today, she hosts a conspiracy-laden Sirius/XM radio show where she carries water for the Trump campaign.
On Monday, Kelly invited Lowry on to try and spin the Haitian migrant conspiracy pushed by Donald Trump and J.D. Vance. Lowry was making a pitch when he said, "Police have gone through eleven months of recordings of calls and they've only found two Springfield residents calling to complain about Haitian [n-word]s." He tried to correct himself by saying migrants.
The camera then panned to Kelly who attempted to ignore the moment, not reacting and simply smiling. The video has quickly made the rounds on Twitter.
Fox News Andrew McCarthy tried to spin Lowry's words, writing, "Ridiculous. @richlowry obviously got crossed up between ‘immigrants’ (short i) and migrants (long i) — started mispronouncing ‘migrants with short i; instantly corrected himself with no embarrassment because it was patently a mispronunciation. Geez."
Lowry responded to McCarthy, writing, "Yep, this is exactly what happened. I began to mispronounce the word ‘migrants’ and caught myself halfway through."
Lowry may try to deny what he did, but the damage is done. Still, considering the history of The National Review, it is unlikely anything will be done.
