During an interview broadcast on MSNBC, reporter Vaughn Hilyard pushed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over potential bans on medical vaccines.
Despite beginning the race as a Democrat, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. eventually ended his campaign and aligned with Donald Trump. In return for his support, Trump offered the conspiracy theorist from one of the most renowned political theorists in the country, a spot in his administration.
Kennedy Jr. is a noted vaccine sceptic and Trump recently hinted that he will be given power in regards to public health.
Catching up with Kennedy Jr., Hilyard asked:
"As part of that, during the pandemic, the height of the pandemic, you were questioning the FDA and calling them out for approving the emergency authorization of the COVID vaccines. If you had been in charge of the FDA at that time, would you have blocked the authorization of the COVID vaccines?"
RFK Jr. responded, "They were saying you need to take this vaccine in order to protect. I knew in May 2020 that the vaccines were not going to protect against transmission. I was reading the studies."
Hilyard did not let the politician off of the hook, asking, "You wouldn't have blocked it?"
"I wouldn't directly block it," Kennedy said. "I would have made sure we had the best science. There was no effort to do that at that time.
