Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann come from a different age of Republican politics. Palin, of course, was paired with John McCain in 2008, and her lack of political savvy helped to doom his campaign. Bachmann was one of the more high-profile members of the Tea Party movement of the 2010s.
Neither of the women are currently holding political office. However, they are both warriors in the GOP’s culture war battle. Palin was recently criticized for going to a restaurant, knowing she was COVID positive. When asked about her behavior on Fox, Bachmann claimed that the former Alaska governor should be lauded.
Bachmann told Fox’s, Jesse Waters:
“Everyone has different reactions to it. But I think, honestly, Sarah Palin is to be commended because she’s trying to act like a normal human being in the greatest city in America, New York City. She’s going out to eat at a wonderful boutique Italian restaurant.”
Incidentally, Palin had brought the restaurant, Elio’s, under scrutiny before her positive test. Two days before her positive test, she dined at the establishment despite her status of being unvaccinated. New York requires restaurants to check vaccine cards before allowing patrons in the door.
