WATCH: Michele Fiore Claims Mass Shooter Did It Because He Was Trans (But He Wasn’t Trans)

Michele Fiore says she wants to provide her audience with a “Second Amendment tool” to combat efforts at gun control. Unsurprisingly, the tool is a lie the size of Texas.

There’s no evidence that the perpetrator in a school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, was transgender. Salvador Ramos, who was killed while reportedly carrying out a mass murder in Robb Elementary School, was 18 years old, and according to Washington Post, described by those around him as increasingly lashing out with violence at friends and peers. Those who know him reported witnessing “blowups” between him and his mother, resulting in police presence at the home at times.

What isn’t being reported about Ramos is that he was transgender — because he was, as far as anyone knows, not. Ramos is not known to have ever indicated any gender dysphoria or to have ever suggested he was a woman, and nothing suggests he was receiving hormonal treatment.

That didn’t stop a bunch of 4chan trolls from picking an innocent trans girl in Texas to target, claiming she was the shooter, nabbing her photos from Reddit, and turning a lot of violent and dangerous attention toward her.

Now Michele Fiore becomes yet another Republican politician to promote this dangerous lie. Watch as in the clip below, she tells her audience that the shooter was taking drugs related to “transgendering.”

“This particular 19-year-old was on psychotropics and a lot of other medications. You really have to get into that fight. Understand all of these school shootings, all of these mass shootings, have pharmaceuticals behind them. Another thing. He was also on a lot of different medications from transgendering, so his mind was quite defective.”

In under a minute, Fiore manages to:

  • Suggest that her audience can counter gun-control arguments with the following lies.
  • Hint that mental illness is the problem — despite that statistically, people with illness are at increased risk of being the victim of a crime, not the perpetrator. (Source: U.S. Department of Health & Human Services)
  • Lie about the shooter being trans, potentially endangering actual trans individuals.
  • Encourage efforts to prevent trans individuals from accessing needed treatment, rather than addressing gun violence.

Fiore is running for Nevada State Treasurer, and her primary is on June 14th.
