[WATCH] Meidas Touch Exposes ‘Cults of Trump’

There’s a reason “#Cult45” has been floating around for the last six years, and now actual cult experts are confirming the dangerous MAGA groupthink that still holds a large percentage of America in its grip.

Dr. Steven Hassan, PhD, appeared on the Meidas Touch podcast and said that former Vice President Mike Pence, former Attorney General Bill Barr, and other members of the Republican Party belong to an “authoritarian cult” whose worldview teaches that God has chosen them as “spiritual warriors against the demon enemy.”

Considering his Twitter handle is literally “Cult Expert,” Dr. Hassan’s takes on the Trump administration participating in the rise of far-right authoritarianism is far from hyperbole. As a survivor of a cult himself, Dr. Hasan recognizes the earmarks of someone being held under a powerful leader’s sway.

“Everyone is susceptible to mind control when under great stress and disorientation,” Dr. Hassan writes, “and these groups use social media to bombard their targets with messages that sow doubt, fear, and confusion about the Covid-19 vaccine. As a result, a significant portion of the US population is refusing to get vaccinated and putting themselves at risk of being hospitalized or dying from Covid-19.”

Trump’s base and inner circle are all influenced by a multitude of right-wing conspiracies, Dr. Hassan says. Anti-vax groups are distorting information by misinterpreting data and casting doubt on the scientific process, while many also still cling to the Big Lie that Trump won the 2020 Presidential election. Still others are part of the QAnon conspiracy theory, which has members who are elected government officials.
