WATCH: Matt Gaetz Talks About Letting His 19 Year-Old Son Go to Spring Break

There are many weird things about Matt Gaetz. First is the Florida Congressman’s obsession with Donald Trump. The header picture on his Twitter account is a selfie of him and Trump. Gaetz also frequently brags about Trump calling him handsome.

But even weirder might be Gaetz’s relationship with his “son” Nestor. The Florida congressman often uses references Nestor (who is of Cuban descent) to prove that he is not a racist.

For example, Gaetz tweeted at Dem Rep. Cedric Richmond last year, “Are you suggesting that you’re certain that none of us have nonwhite children because you reflect on your Black son and say none of us could understand?”

The congressman followed that up with a picture, noting, “For all those wondering, this is my son Nestor. We share no blood but he is my life. He came from Cuba (legally, of course) six years ago and lives with me in Florida. I am so proud of him and raising him has been the best, most rewarding thing I’ve done in my life.”

In actuality, Gaetz has never formally adopted Nestor whose mother passed away but whose father is still alive. Still, Gaetz broke out Nestor last night to make a point about Spring Break.

The congressman told Fox News last night, “My son is a college freshman. He had no real graduation, no prom, and I struggled with whether or not to allow him to enjoy spring break at Panama City beach. I allowed him to have an abbreviated one.”
