To many in the Republican party, Kyle Rittenhouse is a model young man. The anchors on Fox News have pushed his claims that he was in Kenosha to help, despite the fact that he was wearing a assault rifle around his neck.

And Matt Gaetz talked about Rittenhouse’s “bright future” during a Wednesday appearance on Newsmax. The controversial lawmaker even hinted that he might be interested in hiring the teen as a congressional intern.
The Florida congressman told Newsmax:
“He is not guilty. He deserves a not guilty verdict, and I sure hope he gets it because you know what, Kyle Rittenhouse would probably make a pretty good congressional intern. We may reach out to him and see if he’d be interested in helping the country in additional ways.”
Typically congressional interns are college students or recent university graduates. While he claimed that he was studying nursing at Arizona State University during his trial, Rittenhouse was only taking non-degree online classes. He had previously dropped out of high school and finished his degree in an online program.
