WATCH: Matt Gaetz Declares That Republicans Must Be Faithful To Trump To Win
The Republican Party has a Trump problem, The former president is keeping his hand in, endorsing candidates, holding rallies, and still endorsing the Big Lie. Elected officials whose consciences don’t allow them to support him unconditionally have found themselves threatened with loss of committee assignments, and with primary challenges.
Voters may not ever again have to choose between Donald Trump and another candidate, but the Republican Party does have to choose whether to embrace or reject Trumpism — and Matt Gaetz has made his decision, and expects the rest of the party to abide by it, or get out of the way.
Here he is at a Trump rally in Florida — because yes, the ousted ex-president is still holding rallies, where he airs his grievances — telling right-wing news network Right Side Broadcasting that the “days of the Romneys, Cheneys, and Bushes” are in the past and he doesn’t want to go back to them. “This is Donald Trump’s party, and if we’re going to have that red wave, we have to be faithful to the realignment that he led….”
"We have to be worthy of winning… We have to be faithful to the realignment that [President Trump] led and we can't let the establishment get control again." @MattGaetz WITH THE TRUTH pic.twitter.com/wBN02eCgvi

Gaetz has been widely mocked for his seeking of Trump’s approval, with such commentary as Noel Casler’s recent video explaining how he sees Gaetz as trying to emulate Trump in everything from politics to accusations of child sex trafficking to showy internet-troll-style behavior like wearing a gas mask on the House floor.
Meanwhile, the Trump Organization is facing charges for financial crimes, and a close associate of Gaetz has pled guilty to child sex trafficking and is reportedly naming names of others involved.
