WATCH: Marjorie Taylor Greene Claims Countries Helping Ukraine’s Defense Must “Hate Russians”

Marjorie Taylor Greene has been complaining about the U.S. and NATO’s efforts to help Ukraine defend itself against the Russian invasion all along. Now, she’s slightly shifting her attack, suggesting that those helping Ukraine must “hate Russians.”

Greene freely conflates efforts to help Ukraine defend itself against an invasion with a choice to enter war with Russia. Notably, Foreign Affairs has explained that, if Russia is successful in the attack on Ukraine, it won’t stop there, instead resulting in new security concerns for Europe, and in turn, the United States. In short, helping defend Ukraine from Russia isn’t about protecting one nation, but about protecting all of our interests — but you won’t hear that from Greene.

She’s also conflating standing up to the actions by Russia’s leadership with “hating” the Russian people — rather than recognizing many of them as victims of a dictator, too.

“I think the answer is clear. Canada is definitely at war with Russia. a proxy war in Ukraine. Just like the United States. It’s pretty unbelievable isn’t it? I thought Canada just hated truckers. Apparently, they hate Russians too.”

The “truckers” comment presumably refers to Canada’s requirement, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, for truckers crossing the border to be vaccinated against the deadly transmissible disease. Aside from that, Greene claims that the U.S. is currently at war with Russia, and seems to imply that the U.S., and other nations defending against Vladimir Putin’s power grab, must “hate Russians.”
