The January 6th Committee’s public hearings are finally beginning, after months of testimony and investigation behind closed doors. Watch them live as they play out, with witnesses and information showing the planning, the plotting, and the meetings leading up to a multi-pronged attack that would rattle the nation.
The attacks on January 6th, 2021 were aimed at keeping Donald Trump in office after he lost the 2020 election, and the January 6th Committee says they can bring evidence showing that the breach of the Capitol was preplanned. There have already been seditious conspiracy charges brought against members of militia groups, the Proud Boys and the Oathkeepers.
The first public hearing begins at 8pm, and is expected to feature testimony from a law enforcement officer who was present at the Capitol during the attack, as well as a documentary filmmaker who has information on the plotting and conspiring between militia members.
You can watch it live below, beginning with pre-hearing commentary.
The second hearing in the series will follow on Monday morning, beginning at 10am, and subsequent hearings are expected to also be on the daytime schedule, with only this first, and the final, public hearing scheduled for primetime slots in the evenings.
Fox News has stated that they will not be carrying the hearings, with Laura Ingraham actually saying the quiet part out loud — explaining that her network “cater[s] to [its] audience.”
Ingraham: They’re all upset that Fox isn’t covering it live. We actually do something called, you know, cater to our audience… pic.twitter.com/PtGOs5TIA1
