WATCH: Lindsey Graham Says John McCain Would Support Call To Assassinate Vladimir Putin

It seems the more opportunities Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is given to back down on his call for assassins to target Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, the more he doubles down. Though he’s been criticized for comments that could potentially be used in Russian propaganda as a pretext for attacking the United States, Graham has reiterated his point over and over: either Putin must be tried in the Hague for war crimes, or he must be “taken out” by the Russian people.

This time around, Graham not only affirmed that he still stands by those words, and is happy for the record to reflect the same, but invoked the late Senator John McCain, speaking for his former colleague in saying that McCain would support him in the call for assassination, were he alive to express an opinion on the matter.
Q: "Do you stand by your call to have Putin be assassinated?"
Sen. @LindseyGrahamSC: "Yeah, I hope he'll be taken out. One way or the other. I don't care how they take him out…If John McCain were here he'd be saying the same thing…the world is better off without Putin." pic.twitter.com/TeuDNBLcOT

“I hope he’ll be taken out. I don’t care how they take him out…I just want him to go. Yes. I’m on record. Please understand, Senator Lindsey Graham and if John McCain were here, he’d be saying the same thing, I think. It’s time for [Putin] to go. He’s a war criminal. I wish somebody had taken Hitler out in the 30s. Vladimir Putin is not a legitimate leader…he needs to be dealt with, by the Russian people. I’m not asking to invade Russia to take him out. I’m not asking to send American ground forces into Ukraine…I am asking the Russian people to rise up and end this reign of terror.”
