WATCH: Lindsey Graham Insists Putin’s Nuclear Threats Are A Bluff — “Some General Would Shoot Him”

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has threatened nuclear strikes as other nations unite to impose sanctions for his invasion of Ukraine, but Senator Lindsey Graham doesn’t think he really means it. In fact, he seems pretty sure that Putin is thinking things out, considering the risk-benefit ratio, and will make a rational decision not to start nuclear war.

In fact, when Graham appeared on Fox News to discuss sanctions, he expressed certainty that if Putin did move towards a nuclear attack, one of his own generals would stand up to him and put a stop to it — by shooting the leader of Russia in the head.
In the clips below, he’s discussing the possibility of establishing and enforcing a no-fly zone over Ukraine, something that the U.S. has thus far rejected. Senator Graham says he’d be supportive of the plan as a response to any use of chemical weapons, and he doesn’t believe that doing so would bring us a step closer to another world war — because Putin, he says, is only bluffing.

“Well, it’s not gonna be World War 3. You know, this is all a bluff. Putin knows that no one wins a nuclear exchange, so if he ordered a pre-emptive strike on the United States, some general would shoot him in the head…the only way this war ends is with Putin either going to jail or being taken out by his own people.”
Graham has already received bipartisan criticism for using Twitter to call for an assassin to remove the Russian leader.
