Earlier this week, Lindsey Graham went on Sean Hannity’s show to slam the impeachment trial. He told the Fox host, “This thing is collapsing before their eyes and the not guilty vote is growing, so it will over by Sunday, I hope.”
The not guilty vote did not shrink at all. In addition to the GOP lawmakers who were expected to vote against Trump, 3 additional Republican senators (Pat Toomey, Bill Cassidy and Richard Burr) did as well. Graham lashed out at Burr on Sunday, promising to back his potential primary opponent Lara Trump.
The South Carolina senator told Chris Wallace, “North Carolina, the biggest winner I think of this whole impeachment trial is Lara Trump. My dear friend Richard Burr… just made Lara Trump almost the certain nominee for the Senate seat in North Carolina to replace him if she runs.”

During the interview, Graham attacked other Republicans for not showing Trump proper deference. He claimed Nikki Haley, who had criticized the former president earlier this week, “is wrong about President Trump.”
Graham also said of Mitch McConnell, “I think Sen. McConnell’s speech, he got a load off his chest, obviously, but unfortunately he put a load on the back of Republicans. That speech you will see in 2022 campaigns.”
