Lauren Boebert didn’t actually lie at CPAC when she told audiences that paperwork had already been filed regarding impeaching Presiden Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. However, she left out a lot of relevant facts, relying on the audience to not know how very little that actually means.
Someone listening to Boebert’s statements in the clip below, with just enough ignorance of how bills are introduced and passed, and how impeachment works, might mistakenly believe that Biden and Harris are facing imminent expulsion from office. That couldn’t be further from the truth, though.

…the solution that I have put forward, the paperwork’s already been filed. I have introduced articles of impeachment to impeach Joe Biden, impeach Kamala Harris…
That’s true — Boebert has introduced a bill to impeach Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. She’s not the only one, either. Her pal Marjorie Taylor Greene has done the same, and so have others. Boebert’s proposal to impeach Biden, in fact, has six co-sponsors, including Louie Gohmert (R-TX) and Andy Biggs (R-AZ).
What she didn’t mention is that that she did this back in September, and that the bill has already been referred to a committee, and has no real chance of moving any further.
Likewise, her proposal to impeach Vice President Kamala Harris — for speaking supportivvely of Biden’s withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan — was handed over to the House Judiciary Committee in September.
Barring some significant shift of power in Congress — which Republicans are aiming for in November — there’s little real chance of these or any other articles of impeachment moving forward.
