With the news of seditious conspiracy charges hitting the Oath Keepers extremist group, some scrutiny is in order for the links between the extremists and elected officials. Lauren Boebert’s name was one of the first to surface.
In fact, it turns out that Boebert was promoting the Oath Keepers, urging people to attend their rallies and support their causes, years before she ran for Congress. Patriot Takes uncovered the following post from Boebert’s Shooter’s Grill Twitter account, promoting the Oath Keepers and Three Percenters, another extremist group; and the video clip in which she urges people to attend Second Amendment rallies put on by these same groups.

While the charges on seditious conspiracy are new, the reputation of the Oath Keepers is not. The Southern Poverty Law Center’s backgrounder on the group notes that they were formed following the election of Barack Obama, and follows them through their presence in Ferguson, Missouri, where they were charged with ‘providing security without obtaining a license’ as they awaited, armed, on rooftops, for an excuse to ‘defend’ against protestors, into their “Operation Sabot 2016” plan to make sure that Trump won his first election. (This last involved providing unsolicited ‘security’ at polling sites to make sure Democrats didn’t “steal the election.”)
Now they’re accused of seditious conspiracy connected to a mob effort to overturn the 2020 election in Trump’s favor. Is it perhaps past time for Boebert (and any other elected officials) to eschew and disavow any connections, past or present, with the Oath Keepers?
