Plenty of Republicans have been capable of seeing Donald Trump for who he is while still remaining Republicans in all other aspects. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), the Vice-Chair of the January 6th House Select Committee, has been holding her GOP colleagues accountable at the televised hearings and by telling them they can either be loyal to Trump or to the Constitution but not both. But then she also supported the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade. She’s still her father’s daughter, and still very much her party’s member.
Then there’s John Kasich, the former Governor of Ohio, who’s had wonderful moments of clarity when it comes to Trump, but he’s also super pro-lifey and still a Republican. However, he’s also able to see the impact of Trump’s behavior on the rest of the party, and how anyone remaining with Trump as he “takes on water” is about to drown with him.
Appearing on CNN, Kasich spoke about how the bombshell testimony from Cassidy Hutchinson before the House Select Committee last Tuesday is “a turning point” in how Donald Trump is viewed by Republicans. “He’s shrinking,” Kasich said. “You know, I said the other day he reminds me of the Wicked Witch of the West, when they threw a bucket of water on her she started melting.”
Former Ohio Governor Kasich : “They we’re trying to STEAL THE ELECTION! … [Trump] is eroding. He’s like the Wicked Witch of the West when they put the water on. He’s beginning to melt down.”

“Can you believe this guy trying to go to the Capitol to overturn the election?” Kasich added. “It is beyond reprehensible. It’s hard for me to believe in our country we would’ve had somebody doing this, but this guy has done so much. I never felt he was fit for the office and it’s all proven out to be true, unfortunately,” he said.
Based on what we've seen in the #January6th Committee, it's clear to me that as President, Donald Trump tried to overturn the election result. It is both breathtaking and chilling.
Never in my lifetime would I have imagined a President of the United States doing this.

John Kasich also supported Trump in 2020, so…grain of salt while watching this segment.
