WATCH: Kanye West Slams Harriet Tubman During South Carolina Rally

Just as soon as Kanye West declared his intention to run for President, it seemed to all be over. But alas, it was not. The rap mogul had missed the deadline to get on a number of different state ballots.

South Carolina is one of the few states where West has a chance at appearing on the ballot in November. The rapper held a campaign rally there tonight to try to convince voters. The event took a turn for the worse when West insulted revered figure Harriet Tubman.

The event made sure to focus on social distancing and attendees were asked to wear masks. The rapper himself worse a bulletproof vest while on stage.

West drew the ire of the crowd when he said of the famed abolitionist, “Harriet Tubman never actually freed the slaves, she just had them work for other white people.”

This wasn’t the only eye opening thing to be said during the address. The rapper also told the crowd that he had formerly been addicted to drugs and had a heckler thrown out. He also broke down in tears when talking about his daughter.

West ended the event by saying, “That was extremely good. That was extremely bad. I’m out.”
