[UPDATE SATURDAY 9/21 2pm EST: Trump campaign declines third debate]
Donald Trump and his campaign staff agreed to a presidential debate schedule of three face-offs before the November election. But he's now trying to get out of a third appearance after losing to Vice President Kamala Harris at their debate on September 10th.
On Saturday morning, the Vice President accepted CNN's invitation to debate Trump on October 23rd, but it just might turn into a solo Town Hall if Trump's camp won't agree.
While some pundits might suggest the country saw all they needed from both candidates after their initial debate, the Harris campaign insists the American voting public deserves to see more and has released an official challenge to her opponent.
Vice President Harris tweeted Saturday that she “will gladly accept a second presidential debate” and she hopes Trump “will join” her on October 23rd.
CNN also released a statement regarding the final debate. “Both Vice President Harris and Donald Trump received an invitation to participate in a CNN debate this fall as we believe the American people would benefit from a second debate between the two candidates for President of the United States,” the statement reads.
“We look forward to receiving a response from both campaigns so the American public can hear more from these candidates as they make their final decision.”
Trump will most likely remain coy until the date gets closer. After posting on Truth Social that there would be no debate, he told reporters in California that he might, "If I'm in the right mood."
