WATCH: Just Months Ago, GOP CA Candidate Larry Elder Said he Didn’t Have the Temperament to Be Governor
California has a very odd recall system. In a normal election, a Republican candidate would have very little chance at becoming governor. But thanks to the recall system, a GOP lawmaker could take control by getting far less votes than would usually be required.
And if current Governor Gavin Newsom is to be recalled, it is likely that Larry Elder would be the person to take over. Interestingly enough, Elder claimed in February that he didn’t have the temperament to lead the country’s largest state.
Elder said on his radio program:
Most recently, somebody that you know quite well has approached me and I said I subscribe to the Walter Cronkite philosophy, I’d love to serve. I hate to have to run. I just don’t believe I have the stomach, the temperament. the personality, the drive, the willingness to deal with these doofi in Sacramento for the next several years of my life. Have I exhausted all of my excuses yet? Anyway, thank you very much for that. That’s very flattering. But no, I’m not going to I’m not going to run. I would miss being on the radio as well.
