It is very common for previous members of a President’s administration to write books about their experiences. And the Trump administration has been no exception. The difference here is, however, that many of the books include passages about how Trump was out of control and they did nothing to stop him.

This is the case with Mark Esper. Esper, who served as Trump’s Secretary of Defense, appeared on the Late Show Monday night to promote his new book. The former Trump staffer was called out by fellow guest Judd Apatow over his refusal to do the right thing when he had the chance.
The director was appearing to discuss his new documentary on George Carlin. He told Stephen Colbert:
“I don’t think George Carlin would like Mark Esper. Carlin’s whole idea was that people with money manipulate the whole system. So if somebody knows that Trump is a maniac, you would think the day after he gets fired is the day to go, ‘Hey, he wanted to shoot all the George Floyd protestors in the legs.’ But he waits a year to write a book and make money. And I think that was George Carlin’s whole thing, which is that they’re not looking out for you.”
