WATCH: John Oliver Offers Clarence Thomas $1 Million a Year to Leave the Supreme Court

Over the last two years, there have been several revelations about money that Clarence Thomas has expected from outside sources. If he served in any body other than the Supreme Court, he would have been removed from now.

As of now, though, Thomas is untouchable. And Republicans have rejected any ethical codes that would govern his behaviour. So it is easy to feel stuck when it comes to Thomas. John Oliver, though, isn't going down without a fight. He offered the judge plenty of money for the rest of his life if he stepped down from his position.

The HBO host began, "Clarance Thomas is arguably the most consequential Justice on the court right now and he’s never really seemed to like the job. He said, ‘It’s not worth doing for the grief.’ So what if he can keep the luxury perks he clearly enjoys without having to endure all of that grief."

Oliver continued, "If you watch our show, you know jokes aren’t really our thing. This is real. A million dollars a year until you or I die."

The host closed, "So that’s the offer. A million dollars a year and a brand new condo on wheels and all you have to do in return is sign the contract and get the f*** off the Supreme Court.'
