Whenever Donald Trump puts out a new product, he always promises that it will be the best. But most of his branded products are spectacular failures. So there weren’t big expectations when he promised that his new website would challenge both Facebook and Twitter.

But From the Desk of Donald J. Trump didn’t seem to scare the social media giants all that much. In fact, the new blog was widely mocked for its lack of both features and traffic. The former president decided to shut down his new venture on Wednesday.

Late night host and frequent Trump critic Jimmy Kimmel was gleeful about the announcement. He told his audience, “I know, it’s a real punch in the gut for me too. He was very excited about this blog for the first month after he was banned on Twitter, and now he’s just abandoning it. It’s a move he calls ‘The Eric.'”

Kimmel continued, “According to one of his advisers, they learned that the reason he shut it down is because people in the media have been mocking how few people were visiting his site. From now on, he’s just gonna write bitchy little notes on the dry-erase board at the Mar-a-Lago omelet station. More people will see them.”
