Thursday afternoon’s public hearing held by the the January 6th Committee is to focus on the pressure campaign mounted against Mike Pence to force him, in his roll as Vice President, to illegally reject electoral votes. However, Representative Jamie Raskin has revealed the focus of a future hearing.

The Committee has stated an intent to prove that Donald Trump and his allies were carrying out a mutli-part plot to subvert the 2020 election. The mob that attacked the Capitol — after circulating maps, showing up in tactical gear, boasting of improvised weapons, storing a cache of firearms, and other activities that indicate advance planning — is just one of those parts.
So, what where the connections between Donald Trump and the mob? Who, if anyone, in his inner circle, knew the assault was coming and/or facilitated it? That’s what Rep. Raskin is planning to show us.

“All of that is to come soon. This is actually, the hearing thst I’m working on is about the relationship between this whole effort and the domestic violent extremist groups, and how the mob was actually mobilized and put into action.”
There are already known and/or suspected connections between the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers and some of Trump’s closest allies. For instance, Phoenix New Times has reported that the Proud Boys say they met with Representative Paul Gosar (R-AZ), and that he told them, “We’re in [civil war]. We just havent’ started shooting at each other yet.”
Gosar’s brother, Dave, has also shared a view that the Congressman is “twisted up so tight with the Oath Keepers it’s not even funny.”
Oath Keepers members also discussed a connection to Representative Ronny Jackson in their encrypted chat where they discussed the plans of the day, saying that he was carrying “critical data” and that that militia members should protect and defend him. Last month, the January 6th Committee sought a conversation with Jackson about this, but it’s not clear if he ever responded to their request.
