Representative Jamie Raskin has been one of the most vocal voices in Congress for Donald Trump to be held accountable for his actions. However, as a member of the January 6th Committee, he has emphasized also that it’s up to the Department of Justice to ultimately decide whether there will be charges.

His own opinion, though, is clear, particularly when he described the message Donald Trump is sending in recent speeches.
Raskin appeared on Meet the Press on Sunday, where he discussed, among other things, a recent public declaration from Donald Trump at a Faith & Freedom Conference.
Raskin on Meet the Press on Trump continuing to attack Pence: "He's essentially saying, yeah I did it and I'll do it again … if you allow impunity for attempts at unconstitutional seizures of power, which is what a coup is, then you're inviting it again in the future." pic.twitter.com/PvcZTOgVRN

“He’s essentially saying, ‘Yeah, I did it, and I’ll do it again,’ which is what we’ve been contending all along, that if you allow impunity for attempts at unconstitutional siezure of power, which is what a coup is, then you’re inviting it again in the future…we can’t allow people to decide that they’re above the law and that they’re more important than our constitutional processes.”
Here’s the Trump speech that Raskin is talking about, in which Trump first denies calling Mike Pence a wimp, then goes on to call him “weak;” declare that Pence “had a chance to be great” and “make history,” but lacked the “courage” to do so; and ultimately declare that due to his “fear,” Pence “had no choice but to be a human conveyor belt.”
Former President Trump: "I never called Mike Pence a wimp. Mike Pence had a chance to be great, he had a chance, frankly, to be historic…but Mike did not have the courage to act…Mike Pence had absolutely no choice but to be a human conveyor belt…" pic.twitter.com/aOTnZ48LtW

Throughout, Trump perpetuates the false claims of widespread voter fraud, districts in which there were more votes than registered voters, and other lies that have been debunked repeatedly, but that he refuses to let go.
