WATCH: J.D. Vance Says Trump Exemplifies Marine Motto

During a recent campaign event, J.D. Vance claimed that his running mate Donald Trump personifies the Marine motto of Semper Fidelis.

Few people are less of a military veteran than Donald Trump.  The former Republican president famously had a family Doctor friend diagnose him with bone spurs so he could avoid serving in Vietnam.

Despite Trump's cowardice, he and his campaign have felt comfortable knocking Democratic VP Tim Walz and his 24 years of service. During a recent stump speech, Vance said, "I honor every member of every branch of our armed forces, but the one thing that I think the Marines really do well is we have the best motto. I'm biased with Semper Fidelis — always faithful, right?"

Trump's running mate continued:

"You hear Marines say it all the time, Semper Fi, and to me, what it means is that Marines are always faithful to our country. I want to expound upon it because I really do think that Donald Trump exemplifies that motto because his government and under his leadership, the United States was always faithful to the veterans of this country."

Vance closed his comments, "That's something for us to be proud of his record, and his vision is a vision of always being faithful to those who put on the uniform."

Of course, Trump not only dodged the draft, but he has a record of slamming those who chose to serve their country. While Vance may be trying to connect Trump to the United States Military, his attempts are clearly falling short.
